The requirements for the use of Roots blowers are that the temperature of the transported inlet medium must not be higher than 40°C, the content of particulate impurities in the medium must not be greater than 1000mg/m³, and the maximum size of particles should be below 0,1mm. When using boost, the rated boost value specified on the blower nameplate must not be exceeded. Due to the special structure of the Roots blower, there are many differences in operating requirements from other fans, so attention must be paid.

During normal operation, check the temperature of the bearings, lubricating oil in the oil tank, motor, etc. every 1 to 2 hours. They must not be higher than the specified value. Roots blowers make a lot of noise during operation. In order to reduce the noise, in addition to installing a muffler, sometimes some simple methods can also be used to reduce the noise, such as using the underground method. Dig a 4-5m³ underground hole, seal the upper cover of the hole, use a duct to introduce the air inlet into the crypt, and use another duct to introduce outside air into the crypt. The two conduits should be stepped into the bottom of the cave as much as possible, which can reduce a lot of noise.
There are two ways to adjust the Roots blower. One is the air release method. This method is simple and reliable, but not economical. The more economical method is to adjust the speed. In order to increase the wind pressure and air volume of the Roots blower, some vertical kiln cement plants speed up the blower speed. However, it should be noted that when increasing the rotational speed, the mechanical strength of the mechanical equipment must be considered and cannot be increased too much. Generally, the rotational speed should not exceed 15% of the nameplate. As the speed increases, a larger motor will often need to be replaced.
The lubricating oil of the Roots blower should be replaced every 3 to 6 months or filtered with a copper wire mesh with a pore size less than 50 microns. The oil should be changed after the working time is up to 200 hours after the first start. The muffler should also be inspected once every six months and some or all of the sound-absorbing materials should be replaced. The air filter should be inspected regularly, and the inlet and outlet valves and bypass pipes should be kept in normal and good condition. If there is a problem, fix it immediately.
